ABOUT

My name is Daniel Niv, also known as "The Museologist". I am the director of the U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art in Jerusalem, and hold an advisory role in the establishment of a new museum in England (more about that soon!). I hold both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree (with Honors) in Art History from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and I plan to begin pursuing a PhD soon.
In my research I explore the connection between content and form in museums as reflections of social aspirations and ideologies throughout history. Why museums? It starts with a great love for art. Museums gather art to tell stories—historical, cultural, or otherwise. These stories reveal both hidden and overt truths about ourselves as a society and as humans. I am an avid believer in the role of museums as both shapers of our society and its reflection. By curating and presenting art, museums can inspire, educate, and provoke thought, helping us understand our past and envision our future.
In this website I hope to share my love, knowledge, and experience of museums, inspire you to view museums differently and experience art and museums in a new way. It is also my platform to offer my goods- first and foremost- Lectures.
